STIM Chile taps new general manager

Norwegian fish health group STIM has named Eduardo Hofmann as the new general manager of STIM Chile, replacing Claudio Retamal – who led the company’s Chile operations since it began in 2001.

In a release, the company said it was “natural” to turn to Hofmann, who has been at the company for 15 years, when Retamal “decided to seek new challenges.”

STIM – which supplies fish health and bio-control products for the salmon industry together with its patented SuperSmolt technology – has its Chilean office and warehouse in Puerto Montt, as well as a regulatory office in the country’s capital Santiago.

STIM founder and owner Jim-Roger Nordly said the company has “ambitious plans” with “great opportunities for growth” for STIM Chile. He did not provide any further detail.

In June this year, Norwegian firm Europharma merged with sister companies ACD Pharma and Fishguard to form STIM. Besides Norway, STIM has presence in Canada, Chile, the Faroes, Iceland, and Scotland. Its R&D department is co-localized with the Norwegian University of Life Sciences.
