After several recalls of oysters and tuna due to norovirus and elevated histamine levels, Canadian suppliers are recalling additional products this week.
Montreal, Quebec-based La Mer is recalling certain Les Huîtres Cadoret – La Perle Noire brand #4 oysters from the market due to possible norovirus.
“There have been reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products,” the Canadian Food Inspection Agency said in a press release, adding that the recall was triggered by a consumer complaint.
CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products. “If other high-risk products are recalled, the CFIA will notify the public through updated Food Recall Warnings,” the agency said.
The 12-count and 24-count oysters were distributed via retail in Quebec.
In addition, CFIA is updating its 25 February recall warning on elevated histamine levels in tuna products to include new products and retailers.
Several lots of previously frozen ahi tuna sold at IGA, Choices Market, and Save a Lot stores are being recalled. The tuna was sold at stores in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Yukon.
Recalled products include Ahi Tuna Loin Steak Frozen – Ocean Wise sold at Choices Market in Burnaby, British Columbia, and O/W Ahi Tuna sold at Save a Lot stores in several provinces.
“This recall was triggered by consumer complaints … There have been no reported reactions associated with the consumption of these products,” CFIA said.
However, there were reported reactions associated with the products included in a 25 February warning.
