City of Industry, California, U.S.A.-based seafood importer Yumei Foods is recalling nearly 10,000 pounds of shelf-stable catfish soup that were imported from China.
China is ineligible to export processed Siluriformes products to the United States – only raw Siluriformes products – the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said in a press release.
Yumei recalled 9,370 pounds of freeze-dried soups labeled “Fish Fillet With Spicy Soup” Freeze Dried Technology Fish, and “Fish Fillet With Pickled Soup” Freeze Dried Technology Fish.
The soups were shipped to retailers and wholesalers nationwide.
While there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consuming the products, FSIS is concerned that consumers “may still be in possession of the product.”
“Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase,” FSIS said.
Individuals with questions about the recall can contact Yumei Foods Owner Jiazhuo Xie at 626-270-5010.
