Austin, Texas, U.S.A.-based baby food supplier Serenity Kids has contracted with Whole Foods Market to feature its new pouched products made with wild Alaskan salmon on the retailer’s shelves across the United States.
Serenity Kids’ pouched baby foods have a high healthy fat content and are low in sugar due to their flavoring with organic vegetables instead of fruits. Developed by new parents Joe and Serenity Carr, the products developed under the Serenity Kids brand pack “the protein, zinc, iron, B vitamins, and healthy fats that are vital to a baby’s development – without any added sugars, preservatives, or GMOs,” the company said in a press release.
Serenity Kids’ Wild Caught Salmon variety is considered to be the only pouched salmon baby food available on the market in the U.S. currently, and provides omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA that are “often lacking in babies switching from breastmilk or formula to solids,” according to the supplier. The line comes in 3.5-ounce pouches and will be available at Whole Foods locations exclusively until May 2019. The salmon featured in the variety comes from a co-op in Alaska run by parents who feed the pouched product to their own child, a spokesperson for Serenity Kids said.
“As a new mother, I never want to sacrifice quality for convenience, or vice versa – especially when it comes to my baby’s nutrition,” Serenity Kids CEO Serenity Carr said. “Our fans echo this sentiment and we’re delighted to meet their needs with an easy, healthy and tasty food option they can feel good about feeding to their child.”
Made in America, Serenity Kids pouches are free to recycle through a partnership with Terracycle. First launched for sale in August 2018, Serenity Kids has rapidly expanded into e-retailers including Amazon, Thrive Market, and One Stop Paleo Shop, in addition to more than 650 store shelves.
Serenity Kids baby food blends are designed for children over six months old and shelf-stable for 18 months. All recipes are “baby taste-tested and approved,” the company said.
