Catfish supplier snags nearly USD 4 million contract

A U.S catfish supplier has snagged a contract worth nearly USD 4 million (EUR 3.6 million) from the federal government.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture awarded Ibola, Mississippi-based Consolidated Catfish Companies more than USD 3.9 million (EUR 3.5 million) to supply frozen breaded catfish strips for child nutrition and other domestic assistance programs for fiscal year 2020.

Consolidated will distribute 720,000 pounds of the frozen catfish strips to several U.S. cities from mid-August through mid-December, 2020.

The U.S. government also recently purchased USD 23.8 million (EUR 22 million) worth of canned salmon and frozen pollock for child nutrition and other related domestic food assistance programs.

Seattle, Washington-based Ocean Beauty Seafoods won the contract to supply nearly USD 17.3 million (EUR 15 million) worth of canned pink salmon, while Seattle, Washington-based Trident Seafoods was awarded a contract to deliver around USD 6.1 million (EUR 5.4 million) worth of frozen Alaska pollock fish fillets and canned pink salmon.

Bellevue, Washington-based Peter Pan Seafoods will deliver around USD 408,000 (EUR 363,000) worth of canned pink salmon.
