US suppliers land large pollock contract

Three leading seafood suppliers have landed a United States government contract for wild Alaska pollock worth nearly USD 714,000 (EUR 645,000).

The United States Department of Agriculture has been making record purchases of Alaska Pollock this year, partially in an effort to reduce the impacts of China trade tariffs on the fishery.

In its latest buy, USDA awarded a contract for USD 713,398 (EUR 644,000) worth of frozen bulk Alaska pollock and frozen pollock fish sticks to Seattle, Washington-based American Seafoods, Seattle, Washington-based Icicle Seafoods, and Portsmouth, New Hampshire-based High Liner Foods.

The three companies will supply nearly 400,000 pounds of frozen pollock, which will be delivered between March 2020 and June 2020.

High Liner will supply USD 271,000 (EUR 245,000) worth of frozen pollock fish sticks, while Icicle will supply USD 243,302 (EUR 220,000) worth of bulk pollock, and American Seafoods will supply USD 198,196 (179,000) worth of bulk pollock.
