The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is asking for bids on 208,240 cases of canned wild pink salmon to be delivered next year.
Bids are due by midnight on 30 November, according to the USDA notice.
The winning bidders will deliver the salmon for the National School Lunch Program and other Federal Food and Nutrition Assistance Programs between January and August 2021.
Earlier this year, the agency purchased USD 23.8 million (EUR 20 million) worth of canned salmon and frozen pollock for child nutrition and other related domestic food assistance programs.
The winning bidders included Seattle, Washington-based Ocean Beauty Seafoods, which is supplying nearly USD 17.3 million (EUR 14.4 million) worth of canned pink salmon for federal assistance programs this year.
Seattle, Washington-based Trident Seafoods was also awarded a contract to deliver around USD 6.1 million (EUR 5.1 million) worth of frozen Alaska pollock fish fillets and canned pink salmon. And Bellevue, Washington-based Peter Pan Seafoods is delivering around USD 408,000 (EUR 345,000) worth of canned pink salmon.
