The 2026 edition of Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global is set to be the largest version of the event in its history, according to event organizer Diversified.
The 2026 expo, taking place from 21 to 23 April at the Gran Via venue of Fira de Barcelona, is slated to feature 52,950 net square meters of exhibit space and is “still growing,” the organizer said. The space will be occupied by more than 2,300 exhibiting companies from 86 countries, with 65 national and regional pavilions. [Editor’s note: Diversified owns and operates SeafoodSource.]
"As company participation reaches record levels and continues to grow, the scale and diversity of this edition reflects the growing global appetite for innovation and collaboration across the supply chain," Diversified Group Vice President of Seafood Wynter Courmont said in a release.
"Everything you can think of for seafood, you will find here," Courmont said at a 9 April press conference at Barcelona's Fira de Montjuïc.
She described the show's attendees as a broad range of the world's seafood sector stakeholders, including exhibitors in both the seafood and seafood processing spaces, businesses representing every stage of the supply and production chain, and representatives of various NGOs, governmental agencies, and national governments.
"Seafood is one of the most globally traded food commodities in the world, with a very deep supply chain, so an event like this is really featuring everyone that is part of that industry. This is truly a global event that we're hosting here in Barcelona," Courmont said.
Courmont reported that the 2026 Expo had "grown over 1,700 net square meters over last year," and noted that new exhibitors would be added until the start of the event.
Multiple new national and regional pavilions will be featured at the 2026 event, including pavilions from Bulgaria, Mexico, Oman, Uruguay and Venezuela joining returning countries such as Canada, Chile, China, Denmark, Ecuador, France, Greece, Iceland, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Morocco, Norway, Netherlands, South Korea, Turkey, the United Kingdom, United States, Vietnam, and more.

The Expo will also feature the Seafood Excellence Global Awards, the annual award competition recognizing the best seafood products represented at the event. Winners will be chosen from the list of finalists, awarding two top prizes for the Best Retail Product and the Best Hotel/Restaurant/Catering (HORECA) Product. Four other prizes will be awarded for innovation, convenience, retail packaging, and the best line of seafood products.
Additionally, the 2026 event will feature a new Aquaculture Innovation Zone to highlight companies offering new solutions for the industry. Courmant called the new zone, which spotlights several participants, including AquaBioTech Group, LiceDefence AS, and Qingdao Hishing Smart Equipment Co, "a dedicated space for companies, investors, and policymakers to engage with the ideas and technologies that will define the future of seafood."
At the 9 April press conference, Fira de Barcelona General Manager Constantí Serrallonga said he was "very happy" that Diversified had chosen to host the world's largest seafood exposition at Fira for the fifth year in a row.
"[Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global] chose Barcelona as its new home," five years ago, he said. In that time, the show had continued to expand in both size and importance, "and that is something we are very proud of."
"If [the Expo] is a success, it's a success for Fira Barcelona." Serrallonga said.
Courmont added that a conservative estimate of the three day Expo's economic impact for the city of Barcelona alone was EUR 161 million.
“We look forward to welcoming the world to Barcelona for an impactful event," Courmont said.
