Icelandic Group announced this week that the company has completed the process to acquire an Iceland-based fish processing company.
Icelandic is acquiring Ný-Fiskur, headquartered in Sandgerði, a longtime processor of cod, haddock and a number of other fish products for export to Belgium and the European markets. The processor will now be known as Icelandic Ný-Fiskur.
"The acquisition of Ný-Fiskur is a big step for Icelandic Group in strengthening our access to resources, which is a key component of our strategy and vision to inspire consumers in our markets to eat more fish," said Magnús Bjarnason, Icelandic Group CEO. "As a leading fresh fish processor in Iceland, Ný-Fiskur has over the last 20 years established an excellent reputation for supplying high quality fish products to ever-demanding customers in Europe."
As part of the deal, Icelandic will also take over a line vessl, Von GK-113, which has a quota of around 800 metric tons.
"I believe that now is the right time to join forces with Icelandic Group as there is a great opportunity to consolidate each other's strengths and achieve our goals faster," said Birgir Kristinsson, managing director Icelandic Ný-Fiskur. "Icelandic Group will support us in continuing to grow our business with our unique approach to deliver fresh high quality fish products and service."
