Seattle, Washington, U.S.A.-based company American Seafoods has added Trevor McCabe and Keith Decker to its board of directors. McCabe formerly served as executive director of the At-Sea Processors Association, and Decker is the current president and CEO of Blue Harvest Fisheries and former president and CEO of High Liner Foods.
American Seafoods is a harvester, processor, and supplier of Alaska pollock, Pacific whiting, and Pacific cod. These latest developments come a month after Chris Lischewski, the former CEO of Bumble Bee Foods, left American Seafoods' board of directors after being charged in a price-fixing scandal.
“I couldn’t be more excited to have access to the talents of Trevor and Keith, both of whom bring particularly relevant experience to our board and will be important advisors to me and our management team,” American Seafoods CEO Mikel Durham said in a press release.
In his role with the At-Sea Processors Association, McCabe, an Alaska attorney specializing in natural resources law and real estate development, oversaw the trade group of companies that harvest and process nearly half of the pollock caught in the Bering Sea. McCabe has also served as the chief operating officer of the Coastal Villages Region Fund, which has investments in the Bering Sea’s pollock, crab, and cod fisheries. Previously, McCabe served as an aide to U.S. Senator Ted Stevens for almost a decade, a role that saw him help revise and pass the 1996 update of the Magnuson-Stevens Act and the 1998 American Fisheries Act, which governs participation in the Bering Sea pollock fishery.
“American Seafoods is a great company that I’ve watched and worked with for many years. I look forward to joining the board of this American fishing icon,” McCabe said.
Decker joined Blue Harvest Fisheries, a harvester, processor, and distributor of scallops and other seafood products including cod, flatfish, tuna, and swordfish, in January 2018.
“I have always admired American Seafoods as a great organization with highly talented people and a strong focus on quality products,” Decker said. “Having worked with them as a customer for many years and as a colleague on industry issues, I know firsthand the reputation of the company and I look forward to joining the board as we look towards the future.”
