South Korean government backs tongue sole, croaker exporter

The South Korean government has backed a seafood export company aiming to place more of their products in the US and Chinese markets.

Gunsan, South Korea-based Ariul Fish was selected for the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and Startups’ High-Growth Export capability Strengthening Project, giving it backing to launch two new seafood products intended for specialty food markets in China and the United States. The program – which selects companies capable of high growth through export sales – assists participating companies in marketing their wares abroad.

The products, Golden Tongue Sole and Golden Yellow Croaker, come pre-cooked in blister-wrapped packages. Both are considered regional specialties on the west coast of South Korea. All of the company’s fish is caught in South Korea and is processed with a HACCP-certified system, according to the firm.

In a press release, a company representative said Ariul Fish is seeking to raise awareness of its new products through events and other promotional activities.

Both products are currently being sold online on KGLMall.com, a Korean e-commerce site.
