It’s all about value

On Monday, Jason Holland predicted that, in 2012, the world may finally get a grip on illegal fishing in his column, “Time to tackle IUU fishing head on.” Last week, Mike Urch urged seafood professionals to better communicate with the mainstream media in his column, “Getting the right message across,” while Nicki Holmyard took a look back at 2011 to set the stage for 2012 in her column, “Looking back to look forward.”

Today, in my first column of 2012, I’m sticking with the what’s-the-future-hold theme and offering a prophesy of my own: SeafoodSource will continue to deliver the best value in daily seafood news and information.

Not convinced? Take a look at the numbers:

0 There’s zero cost associated with viewing SeafoodSource’s comprehensive mix of seafood news and opinion. It’s free — always has been, always will be.

9 SeafoodSource has an extensive network of contributing editors located around the globe. There are nine, based in key seafood-producing and -consuming regions like Beijing, China; Osaka, Japan; Paris, France; and Málaga, Spain. That’s not including two U.S.-based staff editors and SeaFood Business magazine’s talented editorial team.

90 The aforementioned crew of four SeafoodSource columnists boasts a total of 90 years of seafood-reporting and -writing experience.

52 SeafoodSource will post a total of 52 market reports this year, one every Monday. Each market report covers one of five regions (Northern Europe, Southern Europe, Asia, North America and South America), written by a contributing editor based in that region.

52 SeafoodSource will post a total of 52 audio interviews this year, one every Tuesday. It’s called “From the Source,” and it’s a candid one-on-one interview (downloadable as an mp3) with an influential seafood professional conducted by SeafoodSource Contributing Editors Lindsey Partos and Christine Blank.

12 This year, SeafoodSource is introducing country reports, which like market reports and audio interviews are available to premium members. It’s an in-depth look at 12 of the world’s largest seafood markets, beginning this month with a report on France titled “Eye on France.” Canada is scheduled for February, followed by the United States in March. These reports will feature interviews with key seafood executives, who’ll give their take on the latest trends, prospects for growth and what to look out for in the coming months.

195 It costs only USD 195 a year to access all of the premium content SeafoodSource has to offer. In addition to market reports, audio interviews and country reports, SeafoodSource hosts a series of webinars on a variety of seafood-related topics, available both live and as a recording afterward.

As seafood professionals, you understand the importance of delivering value, and so do we here at SeafoodSource. We will continue to strive to bring you news and opinion day in and day out for free while offering the resources and tools you require to make educated buying and selling decisions.
