Marine Harvest’s EBIT sinks in 4Q

Marine Harvest on Tuesday announced that it harvested 99,000 metric tons of salmon (head-on, gutted) in the fourth quarter of 2011, up from 83,000 metric tons in the third quarter of 2011 and up from 87,000 metric tons in the fourth quarter of 2010.

Marine Harvest Norway accounted for the vast majority of the harvest at 67,000 metric tons. Marine Harvest Scotland represented 13,000 metric tons, followed by Chile at 11,000 metric tons and Canada at 9,000 metric tons. For Chile, that’s a 4,000-metric-ton increase from the same period in 2010.

The Norwegian company’s operational EBIT totaled NOK 309 million in the fourth quarter of 2011, down from NOK 1.05 billion during the same period in 2010.

Operational EBIT for Marine Harvest Norway reached NOK 4.10 per kilogram in the fourth quarter of 2011, down from 5.90 in the third quarter of 2011 and down from 13.00 in the fourth quarter of 2010.

Operational EBIT for Marine Harvest Norway reached NOK 5.90 per kilogram in the third quarter of 2011, down from NOK 12.90 in the second quarter of 2011 and down from 13.40 in the third quarter of 2010.

Marine Harvest will release its full third-quarter results on 8 February.
