Road to Boston: Averting a seafood shortage

The Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) is hosting a seminar, titled “Averting an Impending Seafood Shortage: Building on the Insights of GOAL 2010,” during the International Boston Seafood Show at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center on 21 March from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The seminar’s purpose is to address the burgeoning demand for seafood, particularly in Asia, and how the global aquaculture industry can work together to meet this demand, which is only expected to grow in the years to come. New pro-aquaculture policies in the United States will also be addressed.

On Friday, the GAA announced that Bob Fields of Sam’s Club will be joining the panel. The other panelists include Wally Stevens and George Chamberlain of the GAA, Dr. Michael Rubino, manager of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s aquaculture program; Joe Zhou of Darden Restaurants; Li Zhong, president of Zhanjiang Guolian Aquatic Products Corp; Shahridan Faiez of World Bank; and Adolfo Alvial of Adolfo Alvial Consultancies.

To attend the seminar, participants must hold a Gold or Silver Passport as part of their registration. Click here to register for a passport.

In addition to the GAA, the seminar is sponsored by Diversified Business Communication, which organizes the International Boston Seafood Show and publishes SeafoodSource.com.
