- Jenny Barker has been appointed the new FishWise executive director. Santa Cruz, California U.S.A.-based-FishWise is a sustainable seafood consulting company with a focus on environmental importance. Barker brings industry experience working for the Seafood Alliance for Legality and Traceability for the past five years.
“I am pleased to have the opportunity to lead the innovative work happening at FishWise. The organization is well-positioned to develop new partnerships with global organizations, industry, and governments to expand our reach,” Barker said in a press release. “I have always appreciated that FishWise takes a holistic approach to sustainability, and I believe we are in the right place as an organization to broaden our reach in service of a healthy ocean and the people who depend on it.”
- Seafarers, a U.S. Seafood importer and wholesaler, has appointed David Casas to the role of vice president of the salmon division. According to his LinkedIn, Casas has worked for Seafarers for more than 16 years, beginning at the company in 2007.
- West Coast Salmon (WCS) announced John Hansen, its senior vice president and director for construction and site management, has been let go from the company. According to his LinkedIn, he worked with the company for two years, remote from Copenhagen, Denmark and was let go on 31 December, 2022.
- Cultivated meat and seafood company UPSIDE Foods announced its new Chief Human Resources Officer, Michelle Kwait. She joins the Berkley, California U.S.A.-based UPSIDE Foods from her role as Chief Human Resources Officer at Tysers, an insurance broker baed in London.
"I was particularly drawn to UPSIDE Foods because of its mission to change the world for the better. It's clear that the company has attracted a passionate and talented group of people, and I'm looking forward to helping grow this incredible team," said Kwait. "UPSIDE cares deeply about its employees, and I'm excited to celebrate and enhance the culture as we take the company to the next level."
