Arlington, Virginia, U.S.A.-based food manufacturer Nestle USA has initiated a voluntary recall of a limited quantity of its Lean Cuisine and Stouffer’s frozen meals – including a shrimp entree – because of the potential presence of “wood-like material” in the products, the company said.

The firm made the move after consumers voiced concerns about the problem, including one potential choking incident.

“We are actively investigating the source of the wood-like material. We are confident that this is an isolated issue, and we have taken action to address it,” Nestle USA said, adding that it is working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture on the recall.

The recall includes certain batches of Lean Cuisine Lemon Garlic Shrimp Stir Fry, Lean Cuisine Butternut Squash Ravioli, Lean Cuisine Spinach Artichoke Ravioli, and Stouffer’s Party-Size Chicken Lasagna, all of which were produced between August 2024 and March 2025. The impacted products were distributed at major retailers in the U.S. between September 2024 and March 2025.

The recall does not include any other Lean Cuisine or Stouffer’s products.

Consumers who have purchased the impacted products should not prepare or consume them and should return it to the retailer where it was purchased for a replacement or a full refund, Nestle USA said.
