Stop & Shop issues seafood recall

The Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. on Tuesday announced a recall of several varieties of Cape Cod Shellfish & Seafood Co. oysters and clams.

The Massachusetts-based company removed oysters and clams harvested from the Norwalk and Westport Connecticut waters between 3 July and 2 August due to Vibrio parahaemolyticus.

Products in the recall include:

•    Oysters in shell sold individually, by the dozen and by the pound

•    Cherrystone clams 2-pound bag, UPC 89054100202

•    Cherrystone clams sold individually, by the dozen and by the pound

•    Quohog clams sold individually, by the dozen and by the pound

The company said it has received no reports of illness so far and customers who have purchased the product should discard any unused portions or bring their receipt to Stop & Shop for a full refund.
