Flaky Smoked Salmon launched at Tesco

Salar Smokehouse on Saturday launched its Flaky Smoked Salmon in 25 Tesco locations across Scotland.

Produced in a smokehouse in South Uist, the salmon is made with Scottish salmon from Loch Duart and is smoked using a unique process resulting in a distinct flavor and texture. The product has won numerous awards, including the Product of the Year award at this year’s Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Award.

“We are delighted to have such an opportunity,” said Lesley Robertson, Salar Smokehouse general sales manager. “We hope to work closely with Tesco to achieve high sales growth and demonstrate that the best quality foods from Scotland can outperform foods from anywhere else.”

Salar Flaky Smoked Salmon will sell in Tesco stores for GBP 2.40 per 100 grams.

Scottish Rural Affairs Secretary Richard Lochhead visited a Tesco store on Saturday to celebrate the launch.

“Farmed Scottish salmon is a high quality product attracting strong demand from consumers all over the world,” said Lochhead. “I’m pleased to see that major retailers such as Tesco are helping to ensure that Scottish salmon is reaching a wide audience this Christmas and delivering a boost to the Western Isles economy.”
