Japanese fast food giant rolls out seafood hotpot in China

One of Japan’s best known fast food brands is cashing in on China’s appetite for seafood with an offering of hot pot dishes favoured by Chinese diners in the colder winter months.

Yoshinoya –known as Ji Ye Jia in Mandarin – has launched its “Ankang fish extra Vitamin C” hotpot dish. The dish features the lophius litulom fish species and is currently being served in all of the chain’s outlets across northern China. Also featuring tomatoes and lotus root, the dish is being marketed as a vitamin-rich health food to ward off winter illnesses.

The new hot pot offering is a follow up on Yoshinoya’s “Argentinian red shrimp” hotpot, which is marketed as “low in fat, high in collagen, high in Vitamins A, D and E” and also available in outlets across the north of China, where winter temperatures hit Siberian lows.
