Long John Silver’s on Tuesday announced the launch of its Baja Fish Tacos.
The U.S. quick-service seafood chain will hold Free Baja Fish Taco Day on 14 July. Customers will receive a free Baja Fish Taco at participating locations until 2:30 p.m.
Available at all Long John Silver’s locations beginning 22 June for USD 0.99 (EUR 0.77) apiece, Baja Fish Tacos feature batter-dipped fish in a soft flour tortilla with crunchy crumblies, lettuce and tangy Baja sauce.
Mexican-inspired flavors ranked high in the National Restaurant Association’s recent “What’s Hot in 2009?” trend survey. Long John Silver’s anticipates the tacos to become one of its most popular items.
“Fish tacos, a long-time favorite recipe in coastal areas, are rapidly becoming a passion for the rest of the country,” said Ben Butler, Long John Silver’s president. “We’re proud to be the first quick service restaurant to spread this latest food craze across the nation and meet the needs of contemporary taste buds.”
Owned by Yum! Brands of Louisville, Ky., Long John Silver’s, operates more than 1,100 restaurants worldwide.
