McDonald’s introduces new Japanese-inspired salmon burger

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Japan’s Hokkaido Island receiving its name, McDonald’s Singapore has introduced a new menu item – the Hokkaido Salmon Burger.

Available since Thursday, 3 May, the Hokkaido Salmon Burger features a crispy salmon patty topped with shredded white cabbage and roasted sesame mayonnaise, all served up on a toasted black and white sesame bun. On its own, the burger costs USD 7.70 (EUR 6.45); for an additional USD 2.00 (EUR 1.60), customers can enjoy their salmon burger with fries and a beverage.

With the introduction of the new seafood sandwich, the global fast-casual restaurant chain's Singapore-based franchisees have also brought back the “much-loved” Seaweed Shaker Fries, according to a recent report from Great Deals Singapore. The popular snack item comes with a packet of special seaweed seasoning that can be combined with the fries in the paper meal bag customers receive with their order. The fries can be ordered a la carte for USD 3.40 (EUR 2.85) or included as part of an Extra Value Meal order.

Both the Hokkaido Salmon Burger and Seaweed Shaker Fries will be available after breakfast hours at all McDonald’s restaurants island-wide, McDonald’s said.
