Norwegian-headquartered salmon farming group SalMar harvested 56,300 metric tons (MT) of gutted fish in the final quarter of last year, an increase of 12,700 MT.
The group’s largest business segment, Fish Farming Central Norway, produced 34,600 MT of salmon in the three-month period, up from 20,900 MT in Q4 2020, while its Fish Farming Northern Norway sites provided 17,500 MT – down from 19,100 MT.
Icelandic Salmon, which is Iceland’s largest producer and processor of farmed salmon, contributed 4,200 MT in the closing quarter, which was 600 MT more than a year previously.
For the full-year 2021, SalMar harvested 182,000 MT of salmon, which was 20,500 MT more than the previous year. Of this total, Fish Farming Central Norway contributed 110,700 MT, Fish Farming Northern Norway – 59,800 MT, and Icelandic Salmon 11,400 MT.
