Gordon Food Service to acquire Macgregors Meat & Seafood

Grand Rapids, Michigan, U.S.A.-based foodservice distributor Gordon Food Service entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Toronto, Ontario, Canada-based Macgregors Meat & Seafood.

Grand Rapids, Michigan, U.S.A.-based foodservice distributor Gordon Food Service entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Toronto, Ontario, Canada-based Macgregors Meat & Seafood.

With roots dating back to 1834, Macgregors is one of Canada's longest-standing independent family-owned purveyors. Macgregors is a supplier to foodservice, retail, and private-label customers coast to coast in Canada, Gordon said in a press release.

“The acquisition will diversify and expand Gordon Food Service's customer offerings through new food categories and new retailers,” the company said.

After the transaction is complete, Macgregors will operate as a specialty company of Gordon Food Service.

“Macgregors is among the most-respected [entities] in the marketplace and, like Gordon Food Service, Macgregors operates with a people-focused culture,” Gordon Food Service President and CEO Rich Wolowski said. “We expect our cultural similarities will make for a smooth transition for both our customers and employees."

Located in Toronto's historic Saint Lawrence Market, the company's operations include dedicated raw and cooked processing facilities, an office and research facility, and an retail adjacent storefront. Macgegors’ partnerships include Jail Island Salmon and Certified Angus Beef.
