Heriot Bay, British Columbia, Canada-based Sawmill Bay Shellfish Co. Ltd. is recalling certain lots of its oysters due to norovirus.
The supplier is recalling its Sawmill Bay Shellfish brand Pacific Aquacultured Oysters that were distributed in Western Canada, including to one retailer in Alberta and British Columbia.
However, no illnesses have been reported from consuming the oysters, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency said in a press release.
“Consumers should not consume and distributors, retailers and food service establishments such as hotels, restaurants, cafeterias, hospitals, and nursing homes should not sell or use the recalled product,” CFIA said.
This recall was triggered by CFIA’s findings during its investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak.
The recalled product includes Lots 453 and 454 of Sawmill Bay oysters, which were sold only to hotels, restaurants, and institutions.
Separately, all units sold from 12 February through 19 February at Codfather’s Seafood Market in Kelowna, British Columbia, were recalled.
