Following “winning formula,” Outback Steakhouse introduces Bloomin’ Shrimp

Outback Steakhouse, known for its fried Bloomin’ Onion appetizer, is featuring a new Bloomin’ Shrimp appetizer.

Tampa, Florida, U.S.A.-based Outback, operated by Bloomin’ Brands, said its new offering follows the “same winning formula” as the Bloomin’ Onion, with hand-breaded, bite-sized shrimp that are fried and then drizzled and served with Outback’s spicy bloom sauce. The appetizer is available for a limited time on the Outback Steakhouse app for USD 12.99 (EUR 11.21).

Last year, Outback also offered a similar Bloomin' Fried Chicken, a breaded and fried chicken cutlet entree, which included Bloomin' spices.

Elsehwere, Happauge, New York-based Friendly’s Restaurants is also featuring shrimp in two of its new “comfort classics” entrees. It recently rolled out a Shrimp Aloha Stir-Fry, which includes vegetables, pineapple rice and crisp chow mein noodles, while its Cajun Jazz Pasta includes Cajun-grilled shrimp, chicken breast, pasta, a creamy sauce, green and red peppers, and corn.

And Los Angeles, California-based Veggie Grill is including a plant-based seafood analog dish in its fall menu: the Cajun Fish Fillet Sandwich utilizing Good Catch’s plant-based fish analog. The rollout “allows guests to enjoy a classic fish sandwich while being good to our oceans,” Veggie Grill said in a press release.

Meanwhile, Logan’s Roadhouse added Southern Fried Catfish fillets, to its “From the Dock” menu options earlier this summer. The company is using U.S.-sourced, farm-raised catfish.
