The situation in southern Europe is finally back to normal. Over Easter, most importers were able to sell their stocks, even though some had to lower their margins to do so. Most importers have started to buy again but only enough to meet their customer orders.
Exporters from producing countries like Ecuador try to encourage southern European buyers to increase their purchases. They argue that prices might soon increase. However, so far, southern European buyers have not responded to this speculation and there is no sign that buyers are placing orders to have low-priced stock piling up in their cold stores.
With the relatively quiet summer season ahead, not much is expected to happen until purchasing for this year’s Christmas season begins in September, right after summer holidays.
