Calamari supplier The Town Dock celebrating 40 years in business

Narragansett, Rhode Island, U.S.A.-based, family-owned seafood company The Town Dock observed its 40th anniversary in business on 17 March, 2020.

Founded on St. Patrick’s Day in 1980 by Noah Clark, the company is renowned for its supply of fresh and local fish and wild-caught calamari, which is traded globally.

“When you start a company, start anything, you don’t know how it will go,” Noah Clark, who now serves as The Town Dock’s chairman, said in a press release. “Seeing it here 40 years later is really something.”

“It’s important to reflect on what we’ve done,” The Town Dock President and CEO Ryan Clark, Noah’s son, added. “Forty years is a long time, and it’s impressive. I’m grateful we have the history and stability to navigate situations like we are seeing now with the coronavirus. And I’m grateful that we have so much more room to grow, and that we have the talented, dedicated teams to keep us moving forward.”

Operating from the historic Port of Galilee, on Point Judith, The Town Dock’s partners include a dedicated fleet, local fisherman, and global suppliers. The company provides its seafood products, such as domestic and imported calamari, to foodservice operators, distributors, and retail establishments.

The firm’s premium domestic calamari line, “an innovative product leveraging a historically underutilized squid species,” has seen success over the past few years, according to The Down Dock. Additionally, the company was also behind successful bids for Marine Stewardship Council certification for two North Atlantic squid species.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak in the United States, The Town Dock has decided to postpone festivities related to its anniversary until later in 2020. The company said it has “implemented a plan to support the health and safety of its employees and continues to provide the quality products its customers have come to expect.”
