India, Indonesia, and Ecuador remained the top exporters of shrimp to United States in March 2022, collectively exporting 137.2 million pounds (62,265 MT) of shrimp to the U.S. in the month.
The U.S. imported 168.4 million pounds (76,421 MT) of shrimp in March, an all-time high for the month.
India topped the charts with 52.2 million pounds (23,720 MT) in U.S. exports, surpassing its 43.3-million-pound (19,673 MT) total from March 2021. Indonesia shipped 44.2 million pounds (20,066 MT), which also eclipsed its March 2021 amount of 35.4 million pounds (16,074 MT).
Vietnam shipped 11.3 million pounds (5,149 MT) to the U.S., up from the 9 million pounds (3,988 MT) it sent in 2021. Thailand exported 6.9 million (3,135 MT) of shrimp to the U.S., up from 5.5 million pounds (2,508 MT) in March 2021. Mexico was responsible for 4.3 million pounds (1,961 MT) of shrimp exports to the U.S., lower than the 4.4 million pounds (2,007 MT) it sent to the U.S. in March 2021.
Rounding out the list of the top 10 shrimp suppliers to the U.S. in March 2022 were Argentina at 3.7 million pounds (1,687 MT), Peru at 1.3 million pounds (593 MT), China at 800,000 pounds (386 MT), and Bangladesh at 900,000 pounds (390 MT).
