USDA seeks to buy more than a million pounds of catfish

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is asking suppliers to bid on 1.26 million pounds of catfish.

The USDA is looking to purchase both raw unbreaded catfish fillets and oven-ready, breaded catfish strips for use in its National School Lunch Program and other Federal Food and Nutrition Assistance Programs, the agency said in a notice.

Bids are due by 3 May and deliveries will be made between July and December 2022.

In a notice issued earlier this month, the USDA said it also plans to purchase Alaska pollock, frozen Atlantic pollock fillets, canned pink salmon, frozen wild salmon fillets, haddock, and ocean perch.

The USDA said it will issue those solicitations soon. Winning bidders for those species will make deliveries from July 2022 through June 2023.
