Vinh Hoan, Vietnam’s leading pangasius exporter, boosted its export value in December 2021 on the back of higher sales to all its major markets.
The company exported VND 896 billion (USD 39.5 million, EUR 34.5 million) worth of seafood products in the month, a 66 percent jump year-over-year.
The U.S. remained Vinh Hoan’s top market, with sales value of VND 313 billion (USD 13.8 million, EUR 12 million) in December, an increase of 131 percent year-on-year, accounting for 34.9 percent of the company’s total sales in the month.
Vinh Hoan’s exports to China also surged 16 percent year-on-year to VND 162 billion (USD 7.1 million, EUR 6.2 million), despite facing obstacles in shipping their cargoes to China due to the imposition of stricter coronavirus inspection measures of imported seafood.
Vinh Hoan’s sales to Europe grew 43 percent year-on-year in December to VND 128 billion (USD 5.6 million, EUR 4.9 million). Its sales to other markets rose 66 percent year-on-year to VND 293 billion (USD 12.9 million, EUR 11.3 million) in December.
Overall, Vinh Hoan earned VND 528 billion (USD 23.3 million, EUR 20.3 million) from the export of pangasius products in December, up 69 percent year-on-year. Its byproducts sales in the month also increased 47 percent year-on-year to VND 222 billion (USD 9.8 million, EUR 8.6 million) while its wellness product exports reached VND 67 billion (USD 3.0 million, EUR 2.6 million), up 31 percent year-on-year.
Compared with November 2021, the company’s export value in December fell 2 percent, with U.S. sales down 25 percent. However its sales to China, Europe, and other markets made up most of the difference, Vinh Hoan said.
Vinh Hoan’s total export value in 2021 was VND 8.7 trillion (USD 383.8 million, EUR 335.5 million), up 23.8 percent from 2020, based on its monthly data (excluding sales from its Sa Giang subsidiary).
In December, its Sa Giang subsidiary posted sales value of VND 47.15 billion (USD 2.1 million, EUR 1.8 million), up 26 percent from November. Those sales comprised VND 16.87 billion (USD 750,000, EUR 656,000) in Vietnam, 64 percent higher month-on-month, and VND 26.87 billion (USD 1.2 million, EUR 1.0 million) in Europe, up 8 percent from November. Sa Giang’s shrimp chips sales also saw a growth of 10 percent month-on-month to VND 34.11 billion (USD 1.5 million, EUR 1.3 million) in December.
