Chicken of the Sea contest leads up to World Tuna Day

Chicken of the Sea recently launched a recipe contest to help celebrate World Tuna Day on 2 May.

The major tuna company’s “Best of the Sea Recipe” challenge invites consumers to participate in a three-phase recipe contest to create the Chicken of the Sea Official Mermaid World Tuna Day Menu.

For every original tuna recipe submitted on the Best of the Sea website through 21 April, Chicken of the Sea will make a contribution to FisheryProgress.org, which provides information on the progress of global fishery improvement projects (FIPs).

The tuna company will donate up to a maximum of USD 5,000 (EUR 4,714).

Then, the public can vote on their favorite recipes from 24 to 28 April. The final winning creations selected to be included in the Official Mermaid World Tuna Day Menu will be posted on Chicken of the Sea’s website and featured during World Tuna Day celebration in San Diego.

Creators of the eight recipes that collect the most votes will be featured on the World Tuna Day Menu and receive a USD 100 (EUR 94) gift card. In addition, the eight contest winners will be entered in a random drawing to receive the Best of the Sea Grand Prize of a trip for two to Fiji to experience a World Tuna Day celebration.

“Chicken of the Sea is delighted to be able offer seafood fans a responsible way to celebrate World Tuna Day while honoring the holiday’s commitment to responsible sourcing,” Chicken of the Sea’s Andrea Saldarriaga said. “Our hope is that our public-created, Official Mermaid World Tuna Day Menu becomes a resource for years to come.”
