Norway gets a new fisheries minister

A cabinet reshuffling at the hand of Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg has placed Per Sandberg in a new capacity – Norway’s minister for fisheries.

Sandberg replaces Conservative Party member Elisabeth Aspaker in the fisheries role, leaving behind his previous post as the Progress Party’s deputy leader. Elected to Norwegian parliament in 1997, Sandberg assumed the role of deputy leader for the Progress Party in 2006. PM Solberg expects Sandberg to “be part of our broad government consensus,” according to News in English.

Elisabeth Aspaker, who had served as minister for fisheries for two years will now be responsible for interacting with the European Union.

All ministerial changes took effect as of 16 December.
