Both the Sitagri Salmon Index and the SeafoodSource Pricing Portal are reporting minor growth in the price of farmed Atlantic salmon from Norway in Week 22.
The benchmarking firm placed the average price for all sizes of fresh, head on gutted (HOG) Atlantic salmon from Norway at NOK 72.65 (USD 7.83, EUR 6.73) per kilogram on 2 June, up slightly from NOK 70.52 (USD 7.60, EUR 6.53) per kilogram in Week 21, while the SeafoodSource Pricing Portal, which aggregates pricing information from both trade and market sources, put the average at the start of Week 22 (31 May) at NOK 77.58 (USD 8.36, EUR 7.19), up slightly from NOK 74.53 (USD 8.03, EUR 6.90) per kilogram one week earlier.
Average global export prices for salmon fillets were up significantly week over week, according to the Pricing Portal, which put the weighted average per kilogram for this category at NOK 165.58 (USD 17.85, EUR 15.33), up from NOK 127.32 (USD 13.73, EUR 11.79) one week prior.
Global price averages for frozen salmon, according to the Pricing Portal, fell slightly week over week, from NOK 83.99 (USD 9.05, EUR 7.78) on 24 May to NOK 81.99 (USD 8.84, EUR 7.59) per kilogram on 31 May.
The biggest markets in Week 22 for fresh whole salmon, according to the Pricing Portal, were Poland, China, the Netherlands, Spain, and France. The biggest market for fillets, as usual, was the United States, while Poland, Japan, France, and South Korea rounded out the rest of the top five list. Poland, Georgia, Egypt, Germany, and Kazakhstan were the five largest markets for frozen whole fish from Norway.
Sitagri reported 19,539 Metric Tons (MT) of Norwegian salmon exported globally in Week 22, up 1,316 MT (7.2 percent) from Week 22 last year, and down 2,847 MT (12.7 percent) from Week 21 2026.
For the 3- to 6- kilogram size category, Sitagri placed the average price of salmon at NOK 73.73 (USD 7.95, EUR 6.83) per kilogram, up from Week 21's average of NOK 71.42 (USD 7.70, EUR 6.61). Week over week change was fairly minimal across all size categories, with the smallest price change seen in the 2- to 3- kilogram category, which averaged NOK 66.81 (USD 7.20, EUR 6.19) per kilogram, a NOK 0.52 (USD 0.06, EUR 0.05) price increase from the previous week. The category that saw the most price change was the 8- to 9- kilogram size category, which averaged NOK 70.45 (USD 7.59, EUR 6.52) per kilogram and saw price growth of NOK 2.71 (USD 0.29, EUR 0.25) from the previous week.
The highest weekly price average was in the 5- to 6- kilogram category, which saw prices of NOK 74.12 (USD 7.99, EUR 6.86) per kilogram.
There was no change in many of the forward prices reported by Sitagri and Fish Pool, the Oslo-based futures exchange, for the week. July prices remained at EUR 6,740 (USD 7,831, NOK 72,644) per MT, August at EUR 6,400 (USD 7,436, NOK 68,980) per MT, September at EUR 6,230 (USD 7,239, NOK 67,148) per MT, October at EUR 6,180 (USD 7,181, NOK 66,609) per MT, and November at EUR 6,380 (USD 7,413, NOK 68,764) per MT.
Q4 forward prices are EUR 6,977 (USD 8,105, NOK 75,222) per MT. Q1 and Q2 2027 forward prices remained at EUR 8,400 (USD 9,760, NOK 90,537) per MT and EUR 8,067 (USD 9,373, NOK 86,950) respectively.
Q3+Q4 2026 forward prices were resolved at EUR 6,623 (USD 7,694, NOK 71,383), and Q1+Q2 2027 at EUR 8,233 (USD 9,564, NOK 88,745).
Full year 2026 forward prices are not yet resolved, the firms noted, with bids at EUR 7,400 (USD 8,598, NOK 79,758) and offers at EUR 7,600 (USD 8,830, NOK 81,913). Q4 2026 is offered at EUR 7,050 (USD 8,191, NOK 75,985) per MT and July 2026–January 2027 at EUR 6,800 (USD 7,901, NOK 73,291).
