Bo Jackson and Bonamar team up for new value-added product line

Florida, U.S.A.-based seafood company Bonamar has teamed up with storied athlete-turned-business mogul Vincent Edward “Bo” Jackson to bring about a new product line of appetizers and entrées – Bo Jackson’s Signature Sideliners by Bonamar.

Jackson, who is the founder of food distribution company VEJ Holdings, LLC., will work with his team to formulate unique seafood recipes to feature within the new value-added product line that will appeal to specific target markets, and Bonamar will work to bring Bo’s vision to fruition.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome VEJ Holdings, LLC., a great sales and marketing partner,” said Bonamar’s President and CEO Argenis Contreras. “Bo’s perseverance, focus, and ability to reach goals are great sources of inspiration to family and my entire organization.”

Jackson is known for his illustrious sporting career, during which he played both professional baseball and football, including for Major League Baseball teams such as the Kansas City Royals, the Chicago White Sox and the California Angels, and for National Football League teams the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the then-Los Angeles Raiders.

After his career as a professional athlete ended, Jackson started VEJ Holdings as a way to pursue his other passion - namely, food.

“Bo’s food fascination began as a young boy while watching his mother cook every day from the kitchen sidelines,” according to a company press release. “Bo’s career as a prolific two-sport professional athlete was nothing short of remarkable, and for the past two decades he has used that same drive and determination along with his passion for food to develop a line of quality products that not only create value but incorporate innovation.”

Both Bonamar and VEJ Holdings, which are minority owned and operated, “value diversity for their organizations’ success” and see the partnership “as an opportune fit.”

“Bonamar Corp. and Bo Jackson share a passion for food innovation, which will ultimately change the way people are eating by supplying unique quality name and brand products,” Bonamar said in a release.

Bonamar will be exhibiting at this year’s upcoming Seafood Expo North America (SENA) event in Boston, Massachusetts, at booth No. 348.
