Mexican amberjack farmer Omega Azul will be offering sashimi-grade fish for the first time, and is launching a promotional campaign around its appearance at Seafood Expo North America / Seafood Processing North America from 19 to 21 March, 2017.
The intergrated marine fish hatchery and open ocean mariculture operation is raising up to 20,000 pounds of Mexican amberjack, or seriola rivoliana, at its facilities in La Paz, Mexico. The fish, also known as kanpachi or yellowtail, is available in sizes ranging from 2.3 to 5.5 kilograms and is sold under the Baja Kanpachi brand.
“We are getting an incredible response from chefs in Southern California during our pre-launch trials,” Omega Azul CEO and Founder Terry Morris said. “We are very appreciative of the support of the Mexican government and their desire to advance aquaculture, [as] we are helping to create highly technical jobs in Baja California.”
Omega Azul will be showcasing its new product in the Mexican Pavillion at Booth #1805 at SENA.
