Portland, Oregon-based Pacific Seafood has confirmed the acquisition of Ocean Beauty Seafoods’ distribution business.

Ocean Beauty Seafoods announced it was planning to sell off its distribution business in December 2023, which included its distribution operations in Astoria and Portland, Oregon; Boise, Idaho; Dallas, Texas; Helena, Montana; Renton, Washington; and Salt Lake City, Utah. The move was part of a long term business strategy of the Bristol Bay Economic Development Corporation (BBEDC) and the three individual investors who had owned the business since the mid-1990s.

That sale has gone through to Pacific Seafood, minus the Salt Lake City, Utah operations. Pacific said it will keep its distribution operations focused on serving customers consistently while those customers also gain access to Pacific Seafood’s resources and network.

“We are excited to bring our teams together by combining the best of both our respective companies, which will make us stronger and better together to serve our valued customers, our communities in which we serve, and our joint teams and their families,” Pacific Seafood President and CEO Frank Dulcich said in a release.

Michael Link, one of the longtime investors in Ocean Beauty Seafoods and the CEO of the BBEDC, said the combination brings together “two companies that are complementary and will create a sustainable and exciting future for all of Ocean Beauty Seafoods customers and team members.”

Financial terms on the transaction were not disclosed.

Pacific Seafood has been focused on expansion, with an overall goal to double the size of its business by 2031 via its “Mission 31” initiative. That goal has seen it launch a brand refresh and open its first office in Europe to drive further sales. It has also purchased additional capacity via the acquisition of Trident Seafoods’ Kodiak, Alaska-based processing facility in December 2024.

Pacific also recently partnered with Kinder’s, announcing the partnership at Seafood Expo North America in March.
