Former UK fisheries minister reappointed by new PM

George Eustice has returned to the post of minister at the Department for Food, the Environment and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), a position that he quit in February due to delays to the United Kingdom’s departure from the European Union, which he called a “series of undignified retreats” in his resignation letter.

Eustice, a Brexiteer, was replaced in the role that covers fisheries, agriculture, and farming by Robert Goodwill.

Following Boris Johnson’s appointment as the new prime minister of the United Kingdom, Eustice has been reinstated to the government position.

Other key changes have seen Michael Gove moved from the post of environment secretary to Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and Theresa Villiers named as the new environment secretary.

Johnson has pledged that the United Kingdom will leave the E.U. on 31 October, and has said that a no-deal Brexit will happen if an agreement cannot be reached by that date.
