Bergen, Norway-headquartered salmon-farming firm Mowi harvested approximately 133,000 gutted weight tons (GWT) of farmed salmon in the second quarter of this year, roughly 19,500 GWT more than in the corresponding period of 2024 and exceeding the producer’s previous guidance for the period by 3,000 GWT.
According to the group’s latest trading update for Q2 2025, its Farming Norway operations harvested 72,500 GWT, which was up from 59,500 GWT in Q2 2024; Farming Scotland harvested 24,000 GWT, up from 19,500 GWT; Faming Chile harvested 15,500 GWT, up from 14,500 GWT; Farming Canada harvested 9,500 GWT, on par with Q2 2024; Farming Ireland harvested 5,000 GWT, up from 3,500 GWT; Farming Faroes harvested 4,500 GWT, up from 2,500 GWT; and Farming Iceland, also known as Arctic Fish, harvested 2,000 GWT, up from 1,500 GWT.
In the three-month period, Mowi’s salmon of Norwegian origin achieved an operational EBIT per kilogram of EUR 1.90 (USD 2.22), which was down from EUR 2.50 (USD 2.92) in Q2 2024.
Mowi’s update also estimated the group’s operational EBIT to be approximately EUR 189 million (USD 220.8 million) for the quarter, which would represent a decrease of around EUR 41 million (USD 47.9 million) compared to the corresponding period of 2024 when the firm reported an EBIT of EUR 230 million (USD 268.7 million).
At the end of the quarter, the reported financial net interest-bearing debt (NIBD) for the group was approximately EUR 1.9 billion (USD 2.2 billion).

In fellow Norwegian salmon-farming firm SalMar’s latest trading update, the firm reported a salmon harvest of 64,500 GWT of salmon for Q2 2025, representing a rise of 19,700 GWT compared to its Q2 2024 production.
This latest volume total comprised 33,900 GWT from its Farming Central Norway segment, 20,600 GWT from Farming Northern Norway, 6,000 GWT from SalMar Aker Ocean, and 4,000 MT from Icelandic Salmon. In the corresponding period of last year, Farming Central Norway recorded 27,100 GWT, Farming Northern Norway harvested 17,000 GWT, SalMar Aker Ocean did not record a harvest, and Icelandic Salmon recorded 700 GWT.
