US Foods honors Harbor Seafood during annual awards
United States foodservice distributor US Foods awarded Harbor Seafoods its Center-of-the-Plate Award as part of its 2019 Supplier of the Year Awards.
The Rosemont, Illinois-based distributor recognized four companies for their “innovation, reliability, best-in-class service and shared commitment to helping restaurant operators ‘make it’,” the distributor said in a press release.
New Hyde Park, New York-based Harbor Seafoods, which supplies shellfish, finfish, and value-added products, “is a trusted partner that has been a leader in the seafood industry since 1975,” US Foods said. The company, like US Foods, was recently honored in SeafoodSource’s “Top 25: Seafood Product Innovation” list.
“They have been our partner for many years in support of our Exclusive Brand products and even longer as a manufacturer brand we offer our operators,” Jennie Wandler, senior director of category management for seafood for US Foods, told SeafoodSource. “They are great stewards of the industry and the communities from which they source their products. We value their partnership very much.”
Harbor’s focus on responsible sourcing practices has “created invaluable opportunities to strengthen the assortment of sustainably sourced seafood offerings for US Foods customers across the country,” US Foods added.
Other award recipients included: ProGuard Service and Solutions, Lipman Family Farms, and ACE Bakery.
“We are proud to highlight our remarkable partners for their hard work, dedication to excellence and consistency with providing the highest quality products and services,” said Andrew Iacobucci, chief merchandising officer for US Foods. “The exceptional contributions from these partners are critical to our success and the success of our foodservice operators across the country.”
Sysco also recently honored several seafood suppliers as part of its annual Supplier Excellence Awards, with Devi Seafoods taking home top billing as the distributor's leading seafood supplier once more.
