AquaMaof signs deal to support Russian land-based aquaculture

Rosh Haayin, Israel-based AquaMaof Aquaculture Technologies has signed a memorandum of cooperation and interaction with the Russian Federal Agency for Fisheries and the non-profit organization National Association of Industrial Aquaculture Enterprises.

Through the agreement, AquaMaof will provide support to Russia-based recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) enterprises, the company said in a press release. There are now numerous RAS projects in various phases of development in Russia, with several projects already under construction, including two Atlantic salmon RAS farms previously contracted with AquaMaof.

"We are honored by the trust that the Russian Federal Agency for Fishery has shown in AquaMaof’s RAS technology with the signing of this memorandum," AquaMaof Co-Founder and CIS Director Leonid Goldshtein said. "We look forward to a close and fruitful cooperation, as we lead the way by implementing modern aquaculture RAS technologies in the Russian Federation."

According to AquaMaof, the company will provide “high-end RAS technology enabling production to meet the constantly growing market demand for healthy, natural food and protein.”

The Russian government has introduced multiple incentives to build aquaculture projects over the past decade, with a goal of increasing the country’s aquaculture production to 700,000 metric tons through 2030. National Association of Industrial Aquaculture Enterprises CEO Vladimir Mazanov said AquaMaof’s technology will help Russia's fledgling land-based aquaculture sector reach  its production goals.

"The use of AquaMaof’s unique RAS technologies, as well as the company's world experience in large-scale, industrial, land-based aquaculture projects, will enable Russian aquaculture enterprises to achieve maximum production efficiency and to produce healthy, naturally-raised products, according to global standards," Mazanov said.
