Bangkok, Thailand-based start-up Full Circle Biotechnology announced 3 February it has developed a waste-to-protein system to use insect larvae to create a low-carbon, high-protein alternative aquafeed.

The company will use improved technology, agricultural waste, insect larvae, and microbes in the feed, which it describes as a viable alternative to soy and fishmeal feed.

Full Circle Biotechnology’s fish feed allows for agricultural waste to be upcycled using black soldier flies and microbes to create the cheap and high protein while omitting low carbon emissions, it said in a press release.

The company said its product is 10 times more efficient than black solider fly ingredient production and omits a carbon footprint almost 100 times lower than soymeal, and nearly 700 times less than fishmeal.

Full Circle Biotechnology also announced in 2023 it will open ...
