New growth strategy, appointments at Gael Force

Following four years of strong sales growth, Gael Force Group has started a new five-year strategy and appointed two staff members to its board of directors.

Announcing the moves, the Inverness, Scotland-headquartered aquaculture equipment and technology supply business said that it saw sales climb from GBP 17.1 million (USD 21.5 million, EUR 19.1 million) in 2016 to GBP 41.5 million (USD 52.3 million, EUR 46.3 million) last year, and that the successful delivery of its new strategy is expected to lead to a similar rate of growth.

Its new strategy comprises six key growth drivers: Product innovation, manufacturing excellence, quality assurance, best-in-class service, sustainability, and export market development.

Commenting on the new strategy, Managing Director Stewart Graham said that despite the challenges created by COVID-19, a strong hand on the tiller had ensured a steady course for Gael Force throughout the pandemic.

“The exemplary commitment and leadership I have seen across the company during these challenging times means that the business continues to perform strongly. We move forward with every confidence that our new strategic aims, and ambitions to be world class, will provide us with a stronger footing to be even more competitive, more innovative, and value adding to the market, and uphold our reputation for being a trusted partner to our long standing customers, both in Scotland, Canada and in our target export markets,” he said.

Gael Force’s new strategy coincides with appointments to the group board and the retirement of two of its stalwarts. Its sales director and production director, Jamie Young and Stephen Offord, have both been promoted to the board and will play key senior roles in driving the new strategy.

Retiring this September after nearly 20 years of service is the company’ operations director, Iain Forbes, as well as its finance director, Tim Phillips, who is retiring after almost eight years of service with the company.

Phillips is replaced in his role by Robert Foster, who has joined the group from Halliburton.

“It’s clear that Gael Force are an extremely successful and ambitious company and I look forward to supporting the business in delivering on its strategy through focusing on delivering excellence, innovation and quality assurance to our customers,” Foster said.

Gael Force employs more than 250 people across the United Kingdom and Canada.
