Trident, High Liner nab USD 16 million Alaska pollock contract

The U.S. Department of Agriculture awarded High Liner Foods and Trident Seafoods contracts worth a total of USD 15.97 million (EUR 13.5 million) worth to supply frozen Alaska pollock.

The pollock will be used for the government’s child nutrition and other food assistance programs.

Portsmouth, New Hampshire-based High Liner Foods will supply nearly USD 8.2 million (EUR 7 million) worth of frozen Alaska pollock sticks. Seattle, Washington-based Trident will deliver nearly USD 7.8 million (EUR 6.6 million) worth of frozen Alaska fillets to several U.S. cities.

The deliveries will be made from 16 August through 31 March.

The USDA has also asked seafood suppliers to bid on a massive order of 798,000 pounds of frozen Alaska pollock nuggets by midnight on 14 August.

The USDA will announce the winning bidders by midnight on 26 August.

The pollock will be delivered to numerous U.S. cities between 1 October and 31 December, 2020.
