Bosses have praised the professionalism of nearly 200 people who have now been made redundant by seafood giant Icelandic Seachill, after the meals division was finally shut down.
Last orders passed through the production lines at the weekend at the South Humberside Industrial Estate facility, where it was revealed profits had never been made in the niche area, which served the likes of Marks and Spencer and Asda, as well as other high street names.
Simon Smith, sales and marketing director for the business, said, "We have worked hard to redeploy people and the upshot is that there will be fewer than 200 jobs lost. We still don't have a final number. We are still working with some staff, but the majority of the people have already left the business, last week, when we finally stopped production.
