Pacific Seafood of Portland, Ore., on Thursday announced that its new automated traceability system is increasing food safety and helping to assure its customers about the origin of its seafood products.
Pacific’s proprietary Automated Production Control (APC) tracking system helps the supplier follow its fish from “the dock to the dinner table.” Developed in-house, the APC system tracks fish with an integrated labeling and fish-ticket function.
The system can isolate a product and quickly provide the company specific information, such as what boat the product came in on; when and where the product was unloaded; the equipment the product came in contact with; when the product went into production; and where it was shipped.
“Consumers are becoming more demanding about knowing where their food comes from and how it is grown, harvested or produced — as they should,” said Frank Dulcich, president and CEO of Pacific Seafood Group. “This technology allows Pacific Seafood to identify where product is at any time from the moment it is unloaded to the moment it is delivered.”
