Seafish names board directors

The United Kingdom's Sea Fish Industry Authority, or Seafish, on Friday named two directors and reappointed four directors to its board.

Quentin Clark, head buyer of seafood, beef and poultry at Waitrose, will represent the UK retail industry, while James Wilson, managing director of Deep Dock Ltd., will represent the UK shellfish industry. They will serve three-year terms.

"We are delighted to welcome our new board members today following the official confirmation of their appointments," said Seafish Chairman Charles Howeson. "Both Quentin and James have been at the forefront of innovation in their areas of our industry in recent years, with Waitrose and Deep Dock leading the drive toward sustainable seafood. We look forward to working with them to create a more efficient, profitable and sustainable seafood industry, both here in Britain and internationally."

John Whitehead was reappointed for a third term as deputy chair; his post runs through 13 April, 2012. Reappointed to second terms were Ole Norgaard and Michael Parker, who represent the UK seafood processing industry, and Alex West, who represents Scotland's fishing industry; their posts run through 31 March, 2012.

Seafish is searching for a director to represent Northern Ireland's fishing industry.
