BlueNalu, a cellular aquaculture company, announced it has created an interdisciplinary advisory board featuring leading members of the retail, culinary, and ocean health sectors.
BlueNalu, founded in June 2018, aims to create a cellular aquaculture business that cultures seafood products from fish cells. Currently, it is developing products involving finfish, crustaceans, and mollusks, and to date, the company has attracted USD 4.5 million (EUR 3.95 million) in funding.
The nine new advisory board members “will serve as strategic advisors in guiding the direction and scale of BlueNalu’s growing company,” according to a release.
“The team at BlueNalu is the most experienced in the industry and is clearly able to manage the scale of this endeavor, and I am excited to contribute alongside these visionaries,” Pierre-Yves Cousteau, global environmental consultant, president of Cousteau Divers, and a new board member, said. “I have a very personal relationship with the sea, and BlueNalu’s impacts can lead to a significant improvement to our global health, and to the sustainability of our oceans.”
The new board members are:
- Carlos Barroso, president of CJB and associates, former senior vice president of global R&D for Campbell Soup Co.
- Pierre-Yves Cousteau president, Cousteau Divers; environmental consultant
- Susie Fogelson president, Fogelson & Co.
- John B. Kelly, III president, Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation USA
- Kevin Lyons, associate professor of Supply Chain Environmental Management, Rutgers Business School
- Timothy Morck, president, Spectrum Nutrition, LLC; former vice president ofScience and Regulatory Affairs, Nestlé USA Corporate Affairs
- L. Timothy Ryan, president, Culinary Institute of America; certified master chef and culinary olympics champion
- Roy Yamaguchi founder, Roy’s Restaurants, James Beard Award winner
- Yonathan Zohar, chair, Department of Marine Biotechnology, University of Maryland
The new board members will advise BlueNalu in areas of business and market development, science and technology, operations and commercialization, and more.
