Salmon firms Grieg, Bakkafrost, and Lerøy have released trading updates for the third quarter of 2024, a month before they all release full results for the period.

According to Bergen, Norway-headquartered Grieg Seafood’s latest trading update, the firm harvested approximately 17,700 gutted weight tonnage (GWT) of Atlantic salmon in the third quarter of this year, representing an increase of 5,500 GWT on the corresponding quarter of 2023 and exceeding its previous guidance for the three-month period by 1,000 GWT.

Its Rogaland and Finnmark production regions in Norway harvested 8,500 GWT and 6,000 GWT of salmon, respectively, in Q3 2024, compared to 4,800 GWT and 1,300 GWT a year previously.

At the same time, the group’s operations in British Columbia (BC) produced 3,200 GWT, down from 6,100 GWT in Q3 2023. No fish were harvested on its Newfoundland (NL) farms.

For the full-year 2024, Grieg previously predicted a harvest volume of 78,500 GWT. Of this, Rogaland is projected to supply 28,000 GWT, Finnmark 27,000 GWT, BC 12,500 GWT, and NL 11,000 GWT. In the longer term, its business strategy includes ambitions to increase its salmon harvest volume to somewhere between 120,000 GWT and 135,000 GWT annually.

Its complete Q3 2024 report will be released 27 November 2024.
