Seafood traceability firm Trace Register has announced the launch of its next generation platform, ORIGIN, which the company said is designed to deliver real-time traceability data across complex international supply chains.
According to Trace Register, the model can reduce manual data entry by 80 percent and offer a potential 10 times return on investment. Building on its TR5 GDST-capable platform, the company said ORIGIN was designed with a more intuitive interface and expanded capabilities. The system will be offered in nine languages and will include one on one global customer service.
“We built ORIGIN to serve the real-world needs of our clients – no matter where they are or what language they speak,” Trace Register Chief Customer Officer Chris Bradford said in a statement. “This is traceability designed for people: intuitive, high-impact, and backed by dedicated support. It’s about helping our clients succeed every step of the way.”
In March, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) delayed enforcement of its Food Traceability Rule, which requires any company that manufactures or holds food to maintain detailed supply chain tracking records. Previously scheduled for January 2026, the new compliance date will fall in mid-2028.
In response to the shifting regulatory landscape, Trace Register also introduced an updated brand identity and a redesigned website, which the company says is part of its strategic shift toward positioning traceability as a competitive advantage, rather than solely a means of meeting regulatory requirements.
“Traceability is no longer just about compliance – it’s a valuable business asset,” Trace Register Founder and CEO Phil Werdal said. “With ORIGIN, we’re delivering a platform that helps seafood companies leverage their data for smarter decisions, efficiency, and trust. It’s an investment that pays dividends.”
The company said ORIGIN will roll out in phases throughout 2025.
