Fisheries ‘holy trinity’ feature in new film

A European fisheries research group has issued a 6-minute video featuring the development of sustainable fisheries management and policies in the European Union.

The video, “Bridging the Gap,” produced by GAP2, describes a research case study featuring a Norwegian anthropologist describing the management of the Mediterranean Red Shrimp fishery in Palamós, Spain.

The “gap” the film’s title refers to is between fishermen, scientists and policy makers. GAP2 officials said in a statement that they hope to see more collaboration between the three groups, which they call the “holy trinity” of the seafood industry.

In addition to the anthropologist, the video features interviews with local fisherman, a boat captain, and regional policy makers in Spain.

The new video follows a four-year research project conducted by GAP2 and funded by the European Commission.
